Found the perfect bag except you don't like its strap or its length doesn't work for you? No worries! If the strap is detachable, you can replace it with one that works for you.

How do I find a strap whose color matches my bag?

If your bag is in a popular color such as brown or black, there are usually a handful of options. Outside of those colors, the trick is to buy from a seller that makes straps for Hermes bags, which you can of course use for a bag from any brand. They usually offer different strap styles in an extensive range of Hermes colors so you can typically find one that is a good match for your bag.

Where do you prefer the tote to hang against your body? A bit higher up or lower down?

Your best bet is to grab a piece of paper, cut a long piece of string and tape it to the paper. Play around with the string to see what length is the most comfortable for you. Measure the string and that's the strap length you can aim for.

What strap width should I go for?

A rule of thumb is, the smaller and lighter your bag, the thinner the width of your strap can be.

If it's a heavier or bigger bag, a strap width of at least 2.5 cm tends to be more comfortable so the weight is better distributed across your shoulder.
